When everyone thinks big, I think small.
Since I was a kid, I've always had the desire to change the world, make a lasting impact, and leave a meaningful legacy. Naturally, I envisioned grand dreams for adulthood, forcing maturity.
However, as time passed, my dreams overwhelmed me, leading to decision-making paralysis. I felt lost, not knowing where to start. I got myself jumbled by overthinking everything, losing the sight of where to begin. This led me to abandon many ideas and initiatives, even the really good ones.
In recent months, introspection revealed that to change the world, I must begin with myself and my immediate surroundings. By first changing myself, I can influence the experiences of those around me, hoping to create a ripple effect.
Embracing a mindset of thinking small has helped me navigate challenging times when the future seemed bleak. It has shifted my focus to what's in front of me. While I still hold ambitious dreams, I now prioritize the present moment. This offered me the possibility to breath, to pause and to be still. It gave my mind the space it needed.
A book that greatly aided me on this journey is "Switch" by Dan Heath and Chip Heath.
Sometimes small is better.
