I sure am not.
I don't know about you, but I feel out of sync.
Often, I find myself eating compulsively or wandering mindlessly around. I push my body beyond its limits at times. I've lost touch, and the connection feels broken.
There was a time when the connection between my mind and body was ever present. It was called childhood. If you observe children, you'll see that they listen to their bodies and effortlessly understand what's going on. They practice moderation.
Our upbringing shapes our adult behavior. Reflecting on my childhood, I was always compelled to do things that went against my body's needs. As a result, I disconnected. It became the easiest coping mechanism to get by.
I realize that to create lasting, sustainable change, I must find balance, and moderation is the key. Today, I am striving to reestablish that bond between my mind and body. By pausing and being still, I sometimes hear what my body is trying to communicate. So just for a moment: #stop. #bestill. #listen.
