processes are created by people for people. It looks as if we often forget this aspect during the design phase.
Reducing the human element to a mechanical activity will ultimately result in meaningless and jumbled processes.
Every process has a story and a reason behind it, and that story should be consistently emphasized. People involved in a process have the right to understand how their actions will ultimately serve the higher purpose.
Sometimes, it might be the case that it is just another bureaucratic step. If that's the case, it should be communicated as such. From my observations while redesigning processes, I have learned that when people are treated with respect and provided with explanations, they willingly support even the most tedious and mundane tasks. Why? Because they understand the reasons and are given the opportunity to contribute.
When designing a process, it is crucial not to shy away from involving those people closer to the work.
